I was born on July 4, 1918, in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph and Sarah Rogers. My father, a member of the 107th Infantry Regiment, was killed by mustard gas during World War I. I was raised by my mother, a nurse, who died of tuberculosis, leaving me alone at the age of eighteen.
I joined the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II and was recruited into the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) as part of a super-soldier experiment. There was a Nazi soldier who underwent an imperfect version of the procedure and suffered permanent side-effects. Nonetheless, I agreed to the treatment and it was injected with a Special doctor's serum and doused with vita-rays. The treatment was a success and I emerged significantly taller and more muscular.
I then became known as Captain America and went around saving and rescuing the world.
